Perimeter Medical Imaging Receives HTX Funding
Perimeter Medical Imaging Inc., a developer of real time imaging systems for in surgery tumour margin assessment, today announced financing support for the next phase of product and clinical development, provided by the Health Technology Commercialization Program through htx.ca - The Health Technology Exchange (HTX) and with the support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a University Health Network hospital. This Program has also been made available through the support of the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI)
HTX is a key partner in the Ontario government's Life Sciences Commercialization Strategy. The overarching Health Technology Commercialization Program (HTCP) created by HTX was made possible by a $21.4M funding commitment from the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Research and Innovation. The purpose of the program is to strengthen Ontario's medtech cluster by providing early stage company financing, and incentives for multinationals to strengthen their business cases for anchoring global development mandates in Ontario.
John Soloninka, HTX President & CEO, observed: "We are starting to see the emergence of a Medical Imaging cluster in Ontario and access to funding is a key element to its continued growth. HTX is proud to be part of this growing ecosystem. Our investment in a promising emerging company like Perimeter Medical Imaging is a perfect example of how HTX funding can facilitate medtech investment and job growth in Ontario.”
“Access to funding is one of the key challenges facing emerging medtech companies like Perimeter,” said Paul Weber, Perimeter’s President and CEO. “Funding programs like HTCP are key reasons why Ontario is becoming a leading medical imaging cluster in North America. This support is allowing Perimeter to accelerate commercialization of products that have a real impact on patient care, and create high value jobs for the region!”
